November 29, 2009 - By Lye Kuek Hin

After the few signings i had made in July, i concluded another two more signings, one midfielder and one right winger. They are Josh Falkingham and Loui Fazakerley.

He was a former Leeds player who was released this season. I am delighted that he had chosen to join Thurrock for the new challenge. He has good technique, first touch and creativity ability,  i will employ him as my new play-maker. However his aerial attributes is very poor, i will ask him to stay forward when defending corners. I hope he will blend into the club well and win us some games.

I signed him to compete with Chris Black for the right midfielder spot. He has decent pace and dribbling skills. I hope he will have some trickery on his side to run at defenders and put some decent crosses in for [...]Read More

Hello friends, after last season’s 11th place finish in Blue Square South, my board is quite happy with my performance and i was offered a new 3 year contract until 2013. For the upcoming new season, my board has set a target of a mid-table finish, i told them i can achieve that but inside my heart i hope my team will perform well enough to at least achieve a play-off place. This come down to whether i can sign the right players to achieve the goal of promotion. Before i introduce my new signings, i will give a in-depth introduction for each position of my current squad.
Goalkeeper - Currently i have 2 goalkeepers, Scott Tynan is my first choice and Joe Woolley is the back-up. I am quite happy with both of them, they should be able to perform in this level. Left back - Phil Anderson is my first choice left back and Matt Paine as the back-up. Matt Paine can also play as left midfielder. He will be my left midfielder so i need to sign one more player for this position. Right back - [...]Read More

Hello friends, in my last post i mentioned that we were in 11th place four points of the last play-off spot. So can my Thurrock team make it to the last play-off spot? No, we could not make it. We only managed 2 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses. Here is the results..

vs Hampton & Richmond 2-1
They are 3rd place at the moment and many places above us, that’s why i opt for a counter-attacking tactics to hit them on a break. They did not create much and it is my team who took the lead first. David Bryant scored the first goal in close range through a corner. But before my happiness settled, they made the score level just two minutes. Both team played a very cautious game and the score stayed until the break. Not much chances was created and it was quite a boring game. Not until 64th minute, a nice cross from my left full-back Phil Anderson found [...]Read More

Thurrock-March 2010 results

November 19, 2009 - By Lye Kuek Hin

After the results in February, we are currently occupying 10th place. I want my team to produce better results in March so that we can get closer to the final play-off spot, but we have a terrible start in March losing the first 2 games. I got to admit i made some tactical mistakes for these 2 matches so i am not going to blame the players for it. Here is the results…

vs Bath 0-3
We lost heavily to this 8th place team. They are very motivated to achieve a play-off place, their first goal was scored due to a misplace pass from Simon Heslop. Their midfielder made a quick pass to their striker who sidestep my defender to give them a lead. Their second goal come through Michael Husband who scored in close range, a perfect cross by Alex Flemming. My assistant manager had warned me to take care of this 2 players, but i never took his advice to close them down. Third goal was score immediately after the whistle, their captain Mike Perrott scored a thunderbolt from 30 yards [...]Read More

Thurrock-February 2010 results

November 16, 2009 - By Lye Kuek Hin

It has been a pretty relax schedule for my Thurrock team this month. We just have to play 3 matches for the whole February. Here is the results..

Even though the opposition is not very strong, but we only managed 1 win, 1 draw and 1loss. That is very disappointing consider if we get maximum points, we will only be few points off the last play-off place.

vs Woking 0-0
Both team create almost same number of shots, but both team strikers keep their scoring boots at home. Look at the shots on target only 1 from both team. The game ended as a boring draw.

vs St Albans 2-0
They are now occupying the last place, so lack of confidence was certainly shown. But they managed to keep us at bay so it was stalemate for the 1st half. There was luck on the first goal scored as one of their player deflected a own goal in to give us the lead. This shattered their [...]Read More

November 14, 2009 - By Lye Kuek Hin

I mentioned in my last post that we will be playing 5 matches in January. I hope to gain as much points as possible since the team we are facing is not placed in the top half of the table. Well i think i have a good but not perfect month. Here is the results..

vs Chelmsford 1-0
They are one place above us so both team are well even match, we have almost identical number of shots but my captain Greg Lincoln scored a goal in close range due to a mistake by one of their defender.

November 11, 2009 - By Lye Kuek Hin

Hello friends, we have reached the mid-season of 2009/2010 season. After a mixed results in November, my team is currently lying in 16th place. How is my Thurrock team faring in December? Let’s take a look…

The results is quite even 2 wins, 2 draws and 2 losses. Beginning of the month we are playing very well, however my players is getting tired easily so i rotate the squad a bit and the players who came in simply do not have the quality to  remain in the team. That’s why we lost the last 2 games of the month.

vs Worcester 2-1
They simply switch off for this game. We created numerous chances but only managed to score 2 goals, their striker is much more clinical 1st real chance resulted a goal. Take a look at the screenshot.

vs Havant & Waterlooville 1-1
My midfielder is doing their job very creating a lot of chances for my strikers yet we went behind by a goal before half time . Luckily Simon Heslop gain us a point [...]Read More

Hello my friends, it is time for me to show you my November results. After the results in October, my Thurrock team had climb to 17th places, but i want my team to improve more. Here is my November results.

In total we played 7 matches 4 league matches and 3 FA trophy and cup matches.

vs Newport Co
Both side never get going few chances were created and i felt my team was lucky to get a draw and a point back.

vs Nuneaton
Although they are a non-league side but they really put up a big fight. We scored 2 goals through my striker David Bryant and midfielder Grey Lincoln. They managed to pull a goal back and keep pressurize  my defense. We hold on and progress to FA cup 2nd round.

vs Baintree
My young striker scored a early goal in the 4th minute. I am very happy thinking it will be an easy game for us. But we could not get the 2nd goal and they scored a equalizer right at the end. I was very disappointed  with my player for losing concentration and allowed them to score [...]Read More

Thurrock-October results

November 6, 2009 - By Lye Kuek Hin

Welcome to another month of my Thurrock story. In September i noticed that my Thurrock team is improving. That is good news for our fans. I hope this will attract more fans to attend our home game as our home attendance is pretty low. I forgot to mention that i made 2 more signings in September and this month. Here are they…. I think for my Thurrock team, the worst position will be in the front position. So i signed this veteran striker as a short term solution. I will employ him as a target man role with support duty. Like what Emile Heskey play for Aston Villa and England, to bring others into play and create chances for his strike partner. So far he has played 2 league games contributing 1 assist. his all round play is alright but he is not consistent in every game probably due to his age. Anyway i hope he can help us a bit in this season. The second signing i had made is a [...]Read More
