Before the season officially starts, i need to try out the new tactics for the friendly games coming up. There will be six friendlies games for my new players to blend into the squad. As you can see, we got five wins and a loss.

friendly

Although the loss is against Blue Square Premier rivals Stevenage, but i am still quite positive as i sent some of the reserves in for this game. I am quite please with how clinical in the front department as a total of 21 goals were scored even though some of the teams are from non-league side. But David King had a injury that will rule him out for 2-3 months.

We had a few days rest, finally the first game of the season is awaiting us. We had a great start but after that it was bad luck for us. I had a few injuries to several of my first team players and we could not master any victories after the first game. Here is the results..

First game of the season was against Tamworth a team that narrowly avoided relegation last season, we had a good chance of making an impression in front of our home fans. Both teams played very cautiously and not much chance was created throughout the whole game. The game was ended in favor of us with Jack Jeffrey scoring a brace in the second half. I don’t think we perform very well  but it was always great to have a good start.

tamworth

Second game of the season was against Gateshead a team that finish 6th place last season. Both team were evenly match, an error by my new signing Troy-Archibad-Henville allow them to score a goal and ultimately cost us the match. Not only we lost the game, i had three injuries to my first team players after the game. Troy Archibad-Henville, Olly James and Simon Heslop were out from 2-4 weeks separately.

gateshead

Next up was a difficult game awaiting us, Cambridge Utd was one of the main contenders for the promotion to league 2. We were totally no match for them. We found ourselves three goals down in the first half, i told my players to perform better in the second half. My players tried to find a way back but Cambridge Utd scored another to make the score 4-0. My players never give up and Josh Falkingham scored 2 penalty to make the score much more respectable.

cambridge

Chelmsford our main rivals last season was our next opponent, we had a terrible first half and they scored two quick fire double goals in the first half. We tried to fight back but can only scored a goal through my young striker David Knight. I was very disappointed to lose this game as i thought we stand a good chance of getting something from them.

chelmsford

Next up was against Worcester Blue Square North champions of last season. Both team tried to take control of the game but it ended up in a draw. Kevin Macdonald scored his first and second goal for the club. But they always hit back immediately after we scored. The match ended 2-2.

worcester

Last game of the month was against Chester another team that gain promotion through play-off in the Blue Square North last season. Although Antoine Sibierski scored his first goal for the club but we lost the game 1-3. They played really well and we were totally no match for them.

chester

Six games played and we found ourselves lying in 21st place, the last relegation spot in the table.

I believe the bad start was due to the reason that the injuries suffered to my key players , especially my first team central defenders Troy Archibad-Henville and David King. The players who stand in for them simply don’t have the quality to perform at this level. I hope when all the players return back from their injury then we will able to perform better in September.

Having both centre backs injured is quite a big blow, I really hope things would get better for you once they’ll be back in form. If your defense will be more solid and precise you shouldn’t have any relegation problems. Good luck!

Thanks mate, Lewis Walker and Chris Saunders who came in for them is not up to standard in this level, i may released them to free some funds for new signings.
