Hello friends, welcome to my new 2015/16 Pre-Season. We had an unexpected promotion to league 1 due to the poor form of our rivals last season. The fans agreed that we had a miracle too, they are very excited about facing Charlton, Norwich and Sheffield Wednesday this season. Lets take a look at the season expectation and how much transfer target that the board has allocated for us.

Our financial situation is quite comfortable at the moment, i was quite disappointed with the transfer budget that the board had given me only 8k. Luckily we had a higher wage budget and that will allow me to sign some players.

Before the start of the discussion over the takeover talks, my current chairman Mr Tommy South had offered me a 2 year contract extension. I will be staying with Thurrock until 2018. There was not much consideration on my side and i immediately put pen to paper and signed the contract.

As you know the takeover talks will be dragging for a few months, the directors had enforced a transfer embargo on us. I was not allowed to sign any new players until [...]Read More

Hello friends, i was eager to find out whether we can earn the promotion to league 1 so i will include the 2 games played in May to make up of my last post of my Thurrock story 2014/15 season. The results of the games that i am going to show you was unbelievable and i was still in a shock state of mind now. I think you can guess what happen based on my post title. Yes we had won promotion to league 1. And it was achieved by winning automation promotion to league 1. I don’t think any of you had expected that and myself definitely wasn’t expecting that too. But a turn of events in the last 7 games changed our fate for this season.

As you know from my last post, we were lying in 5th place 10 points behind 3rd place Tranmere. With 7 games left, just how did we come from behind and grab that last promotion spot?  I won’t be going every match in detail, i will just show you the overall results of Tranmere, MK Dons and Thurrock in April and May.

Hello friends, three more months to go before the season ends. Our team still has not solve the inconsistency problems over the season. The only thing is to ensure that the players perform to their best in every game and hope for the best of luck that we can grab the last promotion spot in May. It is a pretty relax schedule in March, only 4 games to be played. Lets take a look at the results.

Although we were unbeaten for the whole month but we can only win 1 and draw the rest of them. I was actually a bit disappointed as if our players had been more clinical in front, we would have won all of the games.

First game of the month was against 8th place Bristol Rovers, not an easy game for us. We hit the woodwork in the early stages but that was the only moment for our fans to shout about. They started to pile on the pressure and took a lead in the 14th minute when their central defender headed in a point blank range from a corner. We couldn’t settled into the [...]Read More

Thurrock-February 2015 results

Hello friends, here is the updates on my February results coming your way.  We are few points of the promotion race and can’t afford to have any slip ups for the rest of the month in order not to harm our promotion chances. We are facing Bournemouth for our first game of the month and i am a bit cautious regarding this fixture. We need to have a good start and lets take a look on the results.

We had a mixed month started the month with a loss to the leader Bournemouth and then recovered to beat Darlington. In total we had 2 wins, 2 losses and 1 draw.

First game of the month was against the current leader Bournemouth, they looked assured of promoting to league 1 as they don’t seem to drop points as often as the rest of title chasing pack. They put in a better performance than us in the first 45 minutes but i was please with how we managed to hold them well limited them to long shots. Troy Archibad-Henville was injured again and i had to replace him during the break. We conceded [...]Read More

Hello friends, we finished quite well in the final stages of 2014 and 2015 will be coming soon. Half a season gone and we are lying in 5th place 7 points off the last automatic promotion spot. The team had seen an improvement of the performances in the last few games and we hope we can keep the good run going. This month will see a few of our loan contract signings expiring and i hope to extend the loan of the players to the end of season especially Moreno Marra, he has become extremely important for us to the promotion chances. I am please that Moreno Marra as well as Bram Meijer and Vincent Nyssen will be here with us for another 5-6 months. One new player will be joining us this month, he is a N. Ireland international with 7 caps to his name. He is a 23 years old regen and his name is Damian Russell. The fans are feeling uneasy with the signing, i hope he can prove them wrong with his performances.

We will start the month with a FA cup fixture against Championship side Swansea and here is the results of January.

Hello friends, 2014 is reaching its end and we are still in touch of a play-off place even though we performed poorly in the last two months. We will be playing six league games in this month and some difficult fixtures awaiting us. We will be visiting Tranmere and have a home game against MK Dons two of the title contenders in league 2. From this month onwards i will modify the formation slightly pushing both the wingers up to 4-4-2 attacking. So lets take a look how the formation works for the games.

Things slightly improved in this month, we showed much improvement going forward. As a results, we had 4 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss in total. The new 4-4-2 attacking formation made a real difference with the wingers looking dangerous when attacking.

First game was away to mid-table team Walsall. We were confident of this fixture and though we were away, attacking strategy was chosen. As both teams went into attacking mode, it was open play and goals will come in the mean of time. It was them who took the lead through a well taken freekick. We instantly [...]Read More

CPW ’10 Review – Adding a touch of human nature to your simulated FM world

FM-Britain the team behind the popular ‘tactical theorems ’10′ has recently released a premium ebook name Communications & Psychological Warfare ’10 on 16th March. I am very honored to receive a review copy from FM-Britain. Many thanks to them for their generousity.

So what does the CPW ’10 has to offer to you? First lets take a look on a famous quote in the introduction by the late Brian Clough former Nottingham Forest manager.

Players lose you games, not tactics. There’s so much crap about tactics by people who barely know how to win at dominoes.

The quote really tells you what the ebook is all about. Battles may be won by tactical decision but you need to win the war by building on strategy. Communications and psychological warfare in the FM world decide on the long term results of your management career.  It basically narrow down to three areas.

  • How to increase your match performance – Communication

You will find all the guides that help to increase your match performance in this chapter. What team talks would you normally give in a normal match, in a cup match [...]Read More

Thurrock-November 2014 results

March 17, 2010 - By Lye Kuek Hin

Hello friends, we need to keep on fighting after having a series of poor results last month. We performed poorly against the title contenders and giving an impression to the media that we were just here to make up the numbers. Hopefully the players will pick themselves up and start performing to the fan’s expectations. Lets see whether the players had made some improvements in November.

We made a poor start to the month losing away to Wycombe but recovered well to remain unbeaten for the rest of the month. Though the team can only win one league game, we did well enough for the two cup games to progress to the FA cup third round.

First game of the month an away game to 12th Wycombe with us being the underdogs. It was in a heavy downpour there but both teams still managed to pass the ball around and few shot on goal. It was Wycombe who took the lead though when they placed a shot to the top corner which my goalkeeper had no chance. We tried to search for the equalizer but my players were wasteful in front of [...]Read More

Thurrock-October 2014 results

March 14, 2010 - By Lye Kuek Hin

Hello friends, things are certainly looking good for my Thurrock team. We are hovering among the top after the results of the last two months. We will be facing a stern test to our promotion credentials in October as there are some difficult fixtures awaiting us. We will play 5 games including a JPT fixture against Charlton. Here is the results of October.

We had a very poor month with no wins at all. 2 draws and 2 losses coupled with us out of the JPT competition which sum up our results in October. Defensively we were very poor and we still lack of quality of challenging with the elite in league 2.

First game of the month was against Cambridge one of the four teams relegated from league 1. They were struggling in league 2 at the moment but they really had some good players there. 3 minutes after the start of the whistle, Troy Archibad-Henville suffered the embarrassment of putting the ball into his own net when there is no pressure from the opposition payer. We were under tremendous pressure after the goal and they went one better scoring another goal [...]Read More
