Hello friends, here is the updates on my February results coming your way. We are few points of the promotion race and can’t afford to have any slip ups for the rest of the month in order not to harm our promotion chances. We are facing Bournemouth for our first game of the month and i am a bit cautious regarding this fixture. We need to have a good start and lets take a look on the results.
We had a mixed month started the month with a loss to the leader Bournemouth and then recovered to beat Darlington. In total we had 2 wins, 2 losses and 1 draw.
First game of the month was against the current leader Bournemouth, they looked assured of promoting to league 1 as they don’t seem to drop points as often as the rest of title chasing pack. They put in a better performance than us in the first 45 minutes but i was please with how we managed to hold them well limited them to long shots. Troy Archibad-Henville was injured again and i had to replace him during the break. We conceded a goal not long after the break when we failed to pick up a run from their wing back and he headed in from a cross. We tried to search for the equalizer and finished the match strongly but missed a couple of chances to suffer a bad start of the month.
Next game was against 23rd place Darlington that was fighting for survival this season. We had a great start when Petr Kopecky put the ball past the goalkeeper in the 3rd minute. Their first ream attack in the 9th minute resulted in a wonder goal scored by their right winger. We tried to keep up the pressure and Richard Jone headed us ahead from a corner give us a 2-1 lead in the first half. Second half was more or less boring for the fans as both teams unable to add to the goal tally. There was nervy times in our defence area at certain periods but we managed to held on to win this game.
Next game was against 15th place Morecambe. I don’t know what got into the players in this match. A very poor performance from the players in every department. My central defenders put in a very terrible performance which allowed them to put the ball past our goalkeeper easily. We conceded 4 goals and only managed to pull a goal back by our new loan signing Scott Harvey. I hope this is just a one-off game performance and it will not be repeated in the next game.
Next game was against 16th place Yeovil. Again i was disappointed by the performance of the players. Yeovil were pressuring us from the start and we struggled to win the ball back from them. But they were not finding the target, we went a goal behind when we conceded a thunderbolt freekick which deflected into the net. We saw very few on the ball in the second half and just as we were going to suffer our second loss in a row, Sam Wegbury made a deep run from midfield and unleased a powerful shot to equalize in injury time. What an escape for us!
We went back to Ship Lane in our next to face 13th place Cambridge. The players put up a different performance from the last two games. We took the lead in the 5th minute when a cross from my right back was met with a header from Moreno Marra into the net. Scott Harvey doubled the lead when he was put through by his strike partner Petr Kopecky. He scored his second goal after another fine assist from my right back to give us a comfortable 3-0 win.
A very disappointing month for us. We dropped to 5th place and the gap between us and Tranmere had widen to 9 points. After the defeat to Bournemouth, the players seem struggling to play their normal football and their performance has been below par. I was particularly disappointed by the loss to Morecambe. Lets hope the players can pick themselves up and performed better next month.
Next month will see us play only 4 games and difficult fixtures will be against Stockport and Bristol Rovers. We need to buck up as there is not many league games left.
Dear friends, this is my updates for February. Thanks for reading and looking forward to your comments and feedback. See you in my next post Thurrock March results.

Hello Lye
I hope you can turn things around next month. You are still in a play off spot so that’s a good thing and you did end the month positively against Cambridge so perhaps that will stir the players up a bit.
Hi Lye, unlucky, a bad month, the players heads must have dropped after the Bournemouth game. Hopefully you can turn it round, I still think you’ll finish in the play offs, with a bit of luck in them you could even go up.

@Kevin
Thanks Kevin, seems like inconsistency problem has been following us over the years. Perhaps some of the players does not have the mentality to perform consistently each month. Just hope the players instill some winning mentality for the rest of the games.
@Laxeyman
Thanks Laxeyman, I think we can get a play-off place unless we lost majority of our remaining games. Hopefully the players will understand that.
