West Ham August-December 2020 Results – New Signings Blending Well

Hello friends, welcome to another update of West Ham story. I am sure you are eager as me to find out how we fare after the departure of several first team players. After winning the last three Premiership title, we will go into the history book to become the first team to win four titles in a row. Before showing you the results in the Premier League, first let’s head straight to the League Cup and see our progress.

League Cup

Our draw in the League Cup had been favorable and we didn’t face any problems in advancing to the semi-finals. Bristol City did gave us a scare as they held us to a draw in normal time and we needed an extra time goal to meet Chelsea in the semi-final. Our recent record against them is excellent and i am pretty confident we can get past them.

Champions League

I would say we had a good draw this season and will be welcoming two legends back home whom we had just sold in the summer.

I am talking about Yaya Sanogo and Lorenzo Crisetig. They were sold to AC Milan and immediately have to return to a familiar surrounding in this CL group match. Zenit and Sparta Prague should not cause us any problems and it will be a close fight between us and AC Milan for the top spot. They are the favorites compare to us as you can see the odds below. They are tied with Barcelona to win the CL this season while we are lying in 4th behind Man City.

We were having a good campaign as we managed to win all the games in the group. There were big wins against Zenit and Sparta Prague as they simply couldn’t cope with our attackers. It was a close fight in Milan as we overcame them 1-0 courtesy of a superb goal by Diego Garcia. Back home, it was not a happy return for Sanogo and Crisetig as we ran rout and fire three goals past them.

Without any difficulties, we finished on top of the group and AC Milan joined us in the knockout round as the other two teams had no chance to get near us.

The draw for the 1st knockout round was made and it was a favorable one. Our next round opponent is Turkish club Besiktas whom we never face before. We should be the ultimate favorites to go through as i believe we have too much quality for them.

Premiership

Well, i never expected us to perform so well after the departure of so many first team regulars. First two matches were not easy as we need to contain Liverpool and Man Utd. Liverpool was finding it hard to beat us in recent season and we maintained our excellent record against them. There was late drama against Man Utd as two injury time goals saw the match headed to a draw. We then rolled on to a seven match winning streak with the game against Burnley producing our biggest win in history.

A loss of form saw Everton and Man City halted our winning run with no goals in both matches. The players found their form again against weaker position including beating the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool whom we are winning every time we face them now. Another nine victory in a row saw us remained undefeated so far.

Table

17 wins and 3 draws saw us occupy the top position with Man City lying behind us. They are also yet to taste any defeat but find themselves eight points behind us due to the draws they accumulated more than us. The title race is not as close as last season and we are now the favorites to win the title for the fifth time.

Players Rating

I am very happy with the performance of the new signings. Anthony Grosso and Emanual Pereyra are having a great season so far. They are a rock in defence and pop up front to chip in some goals and assist as well. This season saw Alex Diallo taking up more responsibilities with him and Carlos Fierro our two main source for goals. Emilio Pisculichi also contributes significantly with 10 goals and 3 assists.

Squad Finances

We have a healthy finance with over 118m in the bank and there is 179m in transfer funds. As you know my January transfer activities is pretty quiet, i don’t expect to bring in too new players when the transfer window opens.

Just an update on my England job, the World Cup qualification group matches has commenced but i will wait till the completion of the matches before my next update.

That’s all for my updates today. Thanks for reading and i am looking forward to your comments.

    • Thanks Darren, never have expected the new signings to come and perform as well as they do. At least we aren’t missing those players and the fans should be happy with that. I am definitely looking to add a few trophies when the season ends.

  1. Fantastic first half of the season. The defence is superbly tight, which is so important, while also scoring plenty of goals at the other end. I think you have a great chance of completing the season unbeaten. Looks like the changes haven’t upset the balance of the team.

The Champions League group stage was stunning, especially the win over A.C. Milan in the final match.

    • Thanks Ziggy, it’s risky to change two first team defenders at the start of the season but the decision has paid off handsomely. We are hard to concede a goal so far and that’s brilliant performance by the defenders. Hopefully we can remain unbeaten for the whole season. It will be a bonus.

Our record against Milan has been excellent. I forgot to mention we have never lost to them in the prior meetings.

    • Thanks Calin, the defence is always a department which i focus a lot. It provides a good foundation for us to attack without any worries.

  2. Hello Lye
Yout team now appears to be stronger than ever and with an 8 point lead in the EPL a history making 4th title is by no means a stretch of the imagination. Excellent work!!

    • Thanks Kevin, we have a big chance of making it four in a row. It’s now up to us to retain the lead and go all the way. To lose it with a 8 point lead is definitely a disaster. I will not allow that to happen.

  3. Great start Lye! The signings have definitely improved your team, you must be happy about that :) I can’t see anyone stopping you in the league, and you’ve built such a good side that I reckon you’ll go along way in the CL too. Good luck!

    • Thanks Laxeyman, the new signings have definitely made our day. If they can keep up the form, we have a big chance of winning all the trophies again.

  4. Sorry that I havn’t commented in a while Lye , but I have been following your progress. Still doing a brilliant job , dominating domestically and hopefully you can win the CL again. Best of luck!
