Hello friends, welcome to my West Ham story 2020/21 season ends report. A brilliant start in first half of the season saw us remain unbeaten and still competing in all the competitions involved. The new signings have been excellent especially Anthony Crosso and Emanuel Pereyra who have been a rock in defence. I am sure we are going to win some trophy, the matter is how many will we win.
The board offered a change of season expectation as you know my chosen target is a continental finish. There are plenty of funds available and i change the target to a title challenge.
The transfer window saw one departure and a new defender was aded to the ranks. Turkish right winger Ercan Tekke who had limited first team opportunity was sold to Inter Milan for 10m. Janu was transfer listed in Everton and looking at his attributes, i couldn’t help parting with 3.1m to secure his signature. Below is his profile.
Janu is a Brazilian youth international who is excellent is his defensive abilities. If he is able to improve on his physical attributes, i think we have a real gem to take over the right-back position. At the moment, he need to be content with a back-up role.
League Cup
We were through to the League Cup semi-final and Chelsea was the team who stood our way of a spot in the final.
The tie was won at home after we thrashed them 4-0. Central defender Nicolas Gimenez was a threat in set-pieces as he headed two goals past them. The return leg saw us took the lead before they found a equalizer in the second half. However it was difficult for them to mount a comeback and we found ourselves on course to win our fourth League Cup trophy with a meeting against Man Utd.
It was a one way final but the scoreline suggested otherwise. We were in fully control of the game as you can see the shots we created. Emilio Pisculichi put us in the front with his two first half goals. We had a hard time extending our lead as we faced an in-form David De Gea. That cost us as they took their chances well to come back from 0-2 to 2-2. The game proceeded to extra time and nerves were mounting as the time clicked. It seemed the League Cup would have to settle through penalty but with one minutes remaining, Nicolas Gimenez produced a late impact when he turned in the rebound after David De Gea saved a header from Anthony Crosso. The League Cup is ours. A brilliant effort from the players. Needless to say, the board and the fans were clearly delighted with the triumph.
FA Cup
It was not a happy journey for us in the FA Cup as we failed to defend our title. We were knocked out by our fierce rivals Man City after seeing off Wrexham and Swansea in the previous round. The match in Manchester was our worst performance this season. Though we had to cope with few injuries especially Luis Guilherme but the team should performed better. Both full-backs were at fault for their goals and i was furious at giving Jose Mourinho the chance to boast about it as they went on to win the FA Cup.
Champions League
If you can remember our CL first knockout round opponent is Turkish club Besiktas, we had no problem getting past them as we won 9-1 on aggregate. The next two round was tough draw against Man City and Barcelona. Revenge was the word that came to my mind. Man City not only beat us in FA Cup, our first defeat in the Premiership was inflicted by them too. I was clearly delighted when we beat them 5-2 on aggregate to face Barcelona who knocked us out last season in the semi-final. We did not make the same mistake as last season as we took our chances at home and secured a 3 goal lead to Nou Camp. Though we lost 0-1 there but the home result was sufficient for us to advance to the final. Our final opponent was Man Utd again…
We were the favorites as we had an excellent record against them in recent meetings. Once again we dominated the game but it was a fierce contest on the field as the referee had to flash nine yellow cards to both teams. Alex Diallo produced an outstanding performance as he single handedly won us the CL trophy. Both goals were scored in the first half in identical scenario with Alex Diallo running past the defender and powered past David De Gea. We did not make the same mistake as in the FA Cup final and Man Utd couldn’t find a way past our defenders this time. We were the Champions of Europe once more and this is our third CL trophy in total.
Premiership
We were holding a eight point lead over Man City with both teams remain undefeated. There were eighteen games left and there was no way we would throw the lead away.
We were playing well up until our first defeat came against Man City in March but Man City was having too many draws. We didn’t have to wait until last game as we secured the title with three games left.
We made history for being the first team to win four titles in a row. Last three games were routine matches but it didn’t feel good to lose against Tottenham for the fans.
We finished the season with a tally of 98 points two short of the century mark. The two Manchester team were behind us with 4th place Chelsea occupying the last CL spot. Wolves was the surprise package this season and look at where Liverpool is as they fell to their lowest position in my game.
Player Ratings
The debutants had clearly done their part in firing us to three trophies this season. Anthony Crosso(the fans player of the year) was a brilliant signing as he was a rock in defence and capable of scoring goals. Emanuel Pereyra was not far behind as he contributed 5 goals and 4 assists. Up front we depend on Alex Diallo for the goals and Emilio Pisculichi was able to score 17 goals in the right wing position.
Manager of the Year Award
I was elected by my peers as the manager of the year this season but i am turning my eyes on the hall of fame as i am getting closer.
I am currently lying in 5th position in the all times Hall of Fame. There is some way to go before i overtake the 1st position from Sir Alex Ferguson. Lets hope i can achieve that before FM2013 comes out.
Another successful season, can’t really ask for more. That’s about all for my update today. Thanks a lot for reading and i am looking forward to your comments.

Congrats on an awesome season! Too bad about the FA Cup exit but I guess you can’t win them all

Thanks Johnny, i am cool about the exit just unhappy we went out in the hands of Man City.
Wow, another great season Lye! Congrats mate, a triple is a great achievement, and it’s safe to say you’ve built the best side in Europe now
Nice to see United lose two finals too
Thanks Laxeyman, guess i am as happy as you to win the two finals from Man Utd.
Yet more amazing domination Lye, you have an unstoppable team and seem to be easing your way to so much silverware, I’d class the FA Cup exit as poor luck but lets hope for a quadruple next season.

Thanks Darren, it’s a disappointment to lose the FA Cup. I hope we will do better next season. I will definitely be looking forward to strengthen the team further to ensure that.
Hello Lye
Congrats on another excellent season and for setting a new EPL record for consecutive titles – beating Man Utd’s records I presume?
Thanks Kevin, you bet, it’s Man Utd’s record we have beaten. Guess we don’t have the time to overtake their total titles record
Another stunning season there. Shame about the FA Cup, especially as it gave Mourinho something to be happy about. Better to lose out on the FA Cup than the Champions League though.
You’re climbing nicely up that hall of fame, but still some work to do before you surpass Fergie.

Thanks Ziggy, at least we took revenge by knocking them out of the CL. That would dent Mourinho’s mood. A few more major trophies especially the CL should see me closing Fergie pretty soon. We will wait and see.
