Thurrock 2021/22 Pre-Season report

Hello friends, welcome to the Thurrock 2021/22 pre-season report. It will be our first ever appearance in the English top flight and everyone are hugely anticipating the arrival of the new season. Prior to that, we need to invest and strengthen the squad if we need to ensure that we survive in our first season. We are given 29.4 million for TV rights for the forthcoming season. First of all lets take a look at the board expectations and how much they are willing to give me for buying new players.

Board expectations

The board doesn’t have any high expectations in our first season. They are happy if we attempted to avoid relegation and give me 10 million pounds. I told them we could avoid relegation and the transfer budget increased to 11.75 million and the wage budget was 130k. I was quite happy due to the fact that this is our first season and we are a poor club. Since i have the budget, it’s time to start scouting for new players and below is the transfer news.

Player in/out

Surprisingly there was not much transfer activity by me. Only 2 [...]Read More

Thurrock 2020/21 Season Ends report

Hello friends, with five games left, we are favorites to go up to the Premiership if we can remain unbeaten for the rest of the games. We are currently lying in 2nd place and will be facing the teams in the bottom half. As long as we play to our normal game, everything should be fine. Alright long story short, lets get straight to the games.

Home against Crystal Palace

We started the month entertaining 19th place Crystal Palace to Ship Lane. As John Leonard and Jim Beardsley had just returned from injury and short of match fitness, i decided to stick with the same line-up. We got off to a great start when Gary Lewis received the ball from Harry Hermans and curled the ball in. We were controlling everything and Gary Lewis used his left foot to score another goal in 20th minute. Things became comfortable for us as Harry Herman scored from close range after an assist from his strike partner. We still have time to score the fourth with Gary Lewis claiming his hat-trick before the break. He’s absolutely on fire. We started to slow down the pace after the break [...]Read More

Thurrock March 2021 results-Holding on to an automatic promotion spot

Hello friends, it’s time for another updates with Thurrock. We are in pole position to promote to the Premiership with us sitting in 2nd place. The difference between the top four teams is minimal and all four teams have a chance to go up. There will be five games waiting for us and its not easy as it seems to be. Reading, Derby and Newcastle are chasing for a play-off spot and they will pose us some problems. Lets take a look at our results.

March Results

We were consistent again this month with us unbeaten for the whole month. We had three wins and two draws. I was particular pleased with the players as we had three key players out after the Derby game which i am going to show you later.

Home against Southend

We welcome 19th place Southend Utd in our first game of the month. We didn’t start well as Southend Utd had some early chances. Slowly we found our feet and started to take hold of possession. Jim Beardsley had one great chance to put us ahead but the ball bounced off the post. From that [...]Read More

Thurrock January & February 2021 results-Unbeaten run saw us climb to 2nd place

Hello friends, this post will cover January and February results as my January results had nothing fascinating and i am eager to know how my team goes. We are currently sitting in 3rd place with a chance to overturn the top 2 teams with an automatic promotion spot under grabs. Meanwhile the transfer window will be open and there is some transfer activity going on. First of all lets take a look on my transfer activities.

Players Out

Sam Allen and Ignasi Miquel were released as they could not command a regular place and had been unhappy about it. Pretty good money for two fringe players.

Players in

Danny Montague is a young English left back. I signed him with future in mind. Gabriel Torje returned back to Peterborough after his loan expired and i ask for his services once again as he is a wonderful backup player. Pawel Czajka and Harry Hermans both play in midfield as i need some cover due to the injury of Colin Madden. Pawel came in on loan from Hibernian while i spent 300k to sign Harry from FC Twente. It [...]Read More

Thurrock December 2020 results-Maintaining 3rd place in the league

Hello friends, we are reaching the halfway mark of 2020/21 season. We are currently sitting in 3rd place with a chance to go for the automatic promotion spot. We had an unbelievable month in November with us unbeaten and gaining 14 points out of 18. We need to consolidate our position and finally get a shot in the highest league in England. There are seven games waiting for us and lets see whether we have what it takes to gain a shot in the Premiership.

December results

We started really well winning our first four games in a row. We couldn’t maintain the form after an injury to Colin Madden. But we returned to winning ways against Swansea and finished off the month with a draw against Southampton.

Home against West Brom

First game of the month was against 21st place West Brom. Our confidence was high and this should be a fairly easy game for us. The players did not let the fans down as they raced to a two goal lead inside 17 minutes. First goal was volleyed in by John Leonard after a through ball from Colin Madden. [...]Read More

Thurrock November 2020 results-Great run of results

August 22, 2010 - By Lye Kuek Hin

Hello friends, welcome to my Thurrock November updates. Things are pretty tight at the top of the table and we are not far behind from a play-off spot. I would say that our defensive display has been good so far but just that we need to improve on the attacking side of our game. There are six games waiting for us this month with a difficult game against 4th place Derby in our first game. Lets take a look at the results.

November Results

I would say this was our best month so far. We were unbeaten for the whole month and won four out of the six games that we played. We draw the other two games so overall we were happy with the run.

Home against Derby

First game of the month was against 4th place Derby. They like to play with a 4-2-3-1 formation with three attacking midfielders and without any wingers. I used a 4-3-2-1 formation with three midfielders to disrupt their play. It seemed to spoil their momentum as we took control of the game from the start. In the 8th minute, Bastian Bruckner scored a real [...]Read More

Thurrock October 2020 results-Fairly even results

Hello friends, its time for another month of updates for my Thurrock story. Even though we are lying close to a play-off spot this season but i feel we could do better. This month will probably see us rotating tactics between standard 4-4-2 and 4-2-3-1 formation. The reason is that i feel even though we are controlling the game but playing with a lone striker up front has saw us missing a lot of clear cut chances. Thanks to Sears, so most likely we will opt for a 4-4-2 formation at home while we will be playing 4-2-3-1 at away or i will drop the attacking midfielder to a 3 men midfield for some steel. So now lets get straight to the result which we will meet 1st place Bristol city in our first game.

October Results

2 wins, 2 draws and a loss. We had fairly even results. I am glad that we were able to win against Bristol City but disappointed at only gaining one point each in the last two games.

Away at Ashton Gate

We had a difficult game coming up as we were up against 1st [...]Read More

Thurrock August & September 2020 results-Keeping close at a play-off place

Hello friends, it great to finally get the season underway. After pre-season preparation has ended, now its the time to face the real test. The new formation seems to work well in the friendly games but we will know how effective it is after the first month. Lets take a look on how our new season get going. I will be showing August and September results as i got too engrossed and forgot to save the table in August. Well, that happens when you got too excited in the game.

August Results

We got off to a very good start beating Sheff Wed by four goals but we went out of the league cup after i rested my first team players. We were then unable to profit in the against against Huddersfield and Rotherham. We suffered our first defeat against Swansea and rounded off the month with a win against Southampton.

Home against Sheff Wed

We started our new season with a meeting against Sheff Wed who we always have trouble beating them. I employed a control strategy with us playing short passes controlling the game. We got off to a [...]Read More

Thurrock 2020/21 Pre-Season Report

Hello friends, welcome to my Thurrock 2020/21 pre-season report. I am pretty excited to write this report as i think i have assembled an exciting squad though i don’t know whether it is enough for us to gain promotion to the Premier League. We achieved a mid-table position for three season in a row since promoting to the Championship. Can this season finally see us plying our trade and face those mighty giant in the Premiership? I certainly hope so. First of all, lets take a look at the board expectations this season.

Season Expectations

The board is not very ambitious towards our coming season, expecting us to finish in mid-table position. They give us a transfer budget of 525k and a wage budget of 64k. I have different ideas though telling them that we will be able to finish in top half and as a result, the wage budget increase to 68k. But the cap wage for key player still stands at around 6.5-6.75k. Not much improvement from last season.

Its time to scout for the right players to join Thurrock. As i am using a new tactic which i will be showing later, i [...]Read More
